How Students Should Compare PG Options (Beyond Monthly Rent)

Paying Guest (PG) stays are common for students near universities and coaching hubs — from Lanka in Varanasi to Katra in Prayagraj. Cheap rent that comes with bad water supply or an impossible curfew is not a bargain. Use this comparison checklist.

Occupancy and privacy

Is the rent for a single room or sharing with one/two others? Are bathrooms attached or common? Ask to see the exact bed you would get, not only a showcase room.

Food and schedule

If meals are included, ask for a sample weekly menu and timings. Confirm whether packing tiffin for late college days is allowed.

Rules that affect daily life
